The Bagala Residential Housing initiative, alongside the Beswick Duplexes project, represents a critical effort to improve living conditions and address housing shortages in our community.
With many ageing properties no longer meeting safety standards, these initiatives focus on providing safe, sustainable housing solutions for residents while ensuring essential service providers have a place to live and work.
As ageing properties are decommissioned, tenants will be relocated to safer accommodations. This is achieved through the installation of demountable homes, which provide immediate, safe housing solutions while new, modern developments are underway.
As part of this broader housing initiative, the $5.8 million Beswick Duplexes project will create three new, energy-efficient homes, each equipped with solar panels and backup batteries for off-grid self-sufficiency. These homes are designed to provide long-term housing for both residents and essential service workers in the community, such as teachers and healthcare professionals.
The duplexes will be leased to organisations that employ staff in the community, helping to secure long-term housing for key workers. Providing comfortable and modern accommodation increases retention rates, ensuring a stable workforce that can build meaningful connections with our community and provide consistent, quality services.
