Law and Justice Program

Strengthening Our Community Through the Law and Justice Program

In the 2025/2026 financial year, Bagala Aboriginal Corporation will launch its Law and Justice Program, a community-driven initiative designed to foster safety, fairness, and justice within our community.

A Collaborative Approach

Our program brings communities together to address legal and social issues through culturally sensitive methods, such as mediation, conflict resolution, and community-led decision-making. This collaboration, with guidance from our Elders and Traditional Owners, ensures solutions are rooted in local values and knowledge.

Tangible Impacts

We are focused on reducing recidivism and increasing understanding of legal rights. The program will also support community corrections and youth diversion initiatives, creating safer environments and empowering individuals to rebuild their lives.

Looking Forward

Access to culturally appropriate legal support is crucial for our people. By bridging this gap, our Law and Justice Program will continue to build safer communities where everyone has access to justice and feels heard.

“As we bring together traditional knowledge and modern legal systems, we pave the way for healing, understanding, and harmony,” says BAC Board Member Braun Bush. “This is not just about addressing legal problems; it’s about protecting our culture and empowering our community.”

The Law and Justice Program is an investment in the well-being of our community. By creating pathways for justice that reflect our values and culture, we’re empowering the next generation to lead with integrity, strength, and unity. Through this program, we’re building a future where every member of our community has the opportunity to thrive, live safely, and contribute to the shared vision of a just and harmonious society.

Where We’re At

This project has been given a $4.4 million grant to help make it happen. The funding will go toward staff, cultural events, transport, and everything else we need to make the workshops successful.

We’ve already come a long way in the planning, and we’re working hard to finalise all the details. It won’t be long now until we can share dates and locations, so keep an eye out for more news soon!
